PHILADELPHIA-ModSpace, a leading provider of temporary and permanent building solutions based in Berwyn, PA, presented the American Red Cross of Southeastern Pennsylvania with a $50,000 check at Wednesday night’s Red Ball preview party at The Chestnut Club. This generous donation is part of ModSpace’s title sponsorship of the 2011 Red Ball.
The Red Ball presented by ModSpace takes place March 5th from 8 p.m. – midnight at the Please Touch Museum in Philadelphia. This is the first time in the 12 year history of the Red Ball that it has had a title sponsor.
“ModSpace has been a great partner of the American Red Cross for a long time,” said American Red Cross Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter interim CEO Donna Palmieri. “Modspace’s Red Ball title sponsorship will help a lot of people who’ve been affected by a disaster in our region.”
“The Red Ball is a great event for a great cause,” says ModSpace President and CEO Charles Paquin. “We’re proud to support the Red Cross of Southeastern Pennsylvania and their continued efforts to help victims of disaster through Red Cross House. Having provided temporary buildings for emergency relief in the days and months after Hurricane Katrina and the earthquake in Haiti, we understand that recovery begins with care, support, and roof over your head.”
In addition to the check presentation, former residents of the Windermere apartment complex spoke about how the Red Cross helped them get back on their feet following last month’s devastating fire.
“I don’t know where I would be if it weren’t for the Red Cross,” said Patricia Brightful. “They took care of me.”
The Red Ball presented by ModSpace is one of Philadelphia’s hottest events. Guests at this red-tie event will sample culinary delights prepared by Philadelphia’s best chefs, dance the night away with entertainment provided by CTO, enjoy access to the museum’s exhibits, mingle with Philadelphia’s social and business leaders, test their luck in the raffle and learn more about the mission of the Red Cross and the everyday work of its volunteers. Actor Vin Diesel is among the celebrities scheduled to attend.
All proceeds from The Red Ball benefit the Red Cross House, a one-of-a-kind short-term housing facility in West Philadelphia where hundreds of local families every year begin their recovery from fires, floods, and other disasters. The Red Ball tickets are on sale now. Main even tickets are $185 and VIP tickets are $285. The American Red Cross Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter, a humanitarian organization led by volunteers and guided by its Congressional Charter and the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross Movement, provides relief to victims of disasters and helps people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. The Red Cross is not a government agency. All Red Cross disaster assistance is free of charge and made possible thanks to the generosity of people in our region who donate their time, money and blood.
