ModSpace Lands Three Major Projects in Western CanadaBerwyn PA, January 31, 2008 - A growing energy exploration industry and the expanding power generation needs in western Canada have resulted in three new projects for the Modular Space Corporation (ModSpace), one of North America's largest modular solutions providers. The new projects will enable the company to further demonstrate its ability to meet the needs of specific markets with proven applications. All three of the announced projects are located within the Canadian province of Alberta. ModSpace is working with the Shell Oil Company and Bechtel-one of the world's premier engineering, construction and project management companies-to develop a project of 536 units for Shell's Fort Saskatchewan refinery expansion project. The modular buildings, including one large 52-unit office complex, will be used for temporary office space for the scores of engineers and workers assigned to the three phases of the project that is expected to take nine years to complete. Some 300 miles north of Edmonton, Alberta, ModSpace is working with Suncor Energy of Canada to provide modular space solutions for the expansion of the Fort McMurray oil sands project. In 1967, Suncor made history by pioneering commercial crude oil production from oil sands found in northern Alberta-the world's second largest deposit of this type. Since then, Suncor has become a major North American energy producer and marketer, producing more than a billion barrels of refinery-ready feedstock and diesel fuel. ModSpace was selected to construct temporary space for offices, lunchrooms and washrooms as part of the plant expansion project. ModSpace will construct a number of complexes that will total 293 modular-units along with 74 single-wide fleet units to support this phase of the plant expansion that will be completed in 2012. The third new business win for ModSpace is providing modular building space for EPCOR, a local utility company in a joint venture with Transalta Utilities expanding the Keep Hills Generating Station in Wabamun, Alberta. The 58 units will support the plant's expansion, the first major power generation project in the growing area of Alberta in the last fifteen years. The ModSpace modular building project will include office space, lunch and washroom facilities and a first aid station. According to Marc Boily, ModSpace Canada's senior vice-president located in Ontario, the company's ability to provide customers with high-quality modular space products and services and to deliver them on-time was essential to landing these three projects despite stiff competition in the market place. "Our highly experienced field team was able to quickly understand the modular space requirements in each of these projects and proactively develop a plan to meet the individual needs of the customers," said Boily. "We also had tremendous support from our corporate leadership in Berwyn, Pennsylvania. We were able to collaboratively develop a plan of action for these projects which resulted in being awarded these three major contracts in Alberta."
