Permanent Modular Classrooms

SITUATION

With approximately 180,000 students, Hillsborough County School District in Tampa, FL is one of largest school districts in the United States. Oak Grove, one of Hillsborough County's 139 elementary schools, was in dire need of expanded facilities due to increasing enrollments and the resulting overcrowding. Hillsborough wanted a solution that provided additional permanent classrooms in a limited area and matched the existing school buildings.

SOLUTION

ModSpace worked closely with the school district to come up with a solution that would meet all of the school’s needs. This began with the development of a new "Space Saver Classroom" that was designed and built with fire-rated materials that reduce the placement requirements by 20 feet between buildings. In addition to the reduced space, the four classrooms units were built at grade to minimize the need for ADA ramps. Once the overall design was finalized exterior and interior finishes were added to blend with the rest of the campus.
