Permanent Modular Complex
Southern State Correctional Facility needed space and services for approximately 1,000 inmates in a very short period of time.
ModSpace delivered several permanent modular complexes that were designed to suit the unique needs of a correctional facility. Customizations throughout the facility included closed-captioned TV; steel walls, floors and ceilings; panic alarms; sallyports and guard towers.
The modular housing complexes included 80 beds-per-unit, lavatories, dayrooms, a kitchen and counseling offices. An infirmary unit was equipped with x-ray and dental equipment, a pharmacy, exam rooms and a nurses’ station. A fortified maximum security area had 24 cells and a 48-bed capacity. Additional modular buildings included a library and several classrooms, administration and operations facilities, internal affairs and a mailroom. A central control room was also customized with surveillance monitors and space for the operators of the very complex security system.
