When
Utah's Deer Valley Ski resort needed to add
a facility for its sales consultants they
quickly realized
the enormity of their task.
Mountainous
surroundings and thick evergreen forestry left
little construction space for a new building,
while annual snowfalls averaging 300 inches
made installation seem impossible. They had
to find a way to develop attractive and functional
space on their existing land. How do you do
that?
Deer
Valley looked to ModSpace's Component Construction.
By using this advanced construction method
the ski resort found they could work within
their challenging site conditions and still
gain a beautiful, fully customized building.
Working
with local code requirements, ModSpace and
Deer Valley incorporated several safety elements
into the building's design. Roofing and trussing
was constructed to withstand 200 lb snow loads
and an antifreeze sprinkler system was installed
to ensure operation during frigid temperatures.
A 6' high concrete sonitube foundation was
developed upon which the building's components
were craned-in and set permanently to the
foundation.
Thoughtful
planning to the building's interior design yielded
spectacular results, including rich earth toned
plaster walls, reclaimed wood flooring, and
hand carved wood beams and doors. The floorplan
guides visitors around a display gallery, on
to the site model and back to the lobby area.
Comfortable furnishings that enhance the building's
rustic appeal were added as a final touch.
As
a result of choosing ModSpace, Deer Valley
was able to work within their difficult site
conditions and gain an exquisite, fully functional
sales facility in nearly half the time of
conventional construction methods.
