No phone line connection is required. The control panel uses a nationwide 2-way wireless data network to communicate with Alarm.com's Network Operations Center. You don't need to connect your control panel to a computer, broadband connection, or a phone line. All communication is wireless.

The control panel has a built-in siren and backup battery. If the control panel loses power, the Wireless Module will send a "Power Failure" signal to Alarm.com, and the control panel will switch to the backup battery. The control panel can run off the backup battery for at least 16 hours before the Wireless Module needs to power off to conserve energy.

The sensors come with standard batteries (battery types vary by sensor). The average battery life is 3-5 years, depending on the amount of activity reported by the sensor. When your sensor has a Low Battery, the Wireless Module will send a "Low Battery" signal to Alarm.com.

You can log into your account at www.modspace.com/security to see current system status and issues (including Low Battery and Power Failure), and sign up for e-mail and text-message notifications to alert you when specific events such as these are reported by your system.

The control panel supports up to 23 wireless sensors. 4 sensors (2 door/window sensors, 1 motion sensor, and 1 keychain remote control) are included in the Base Kit.

• E-Mail Summary Reports for Non-Alarm Activity - Receive daily and/or weekly reports indicating when doors, windows, cabinets or appliance doors opened and closed, even if the system is disarmed.
• Open/Close E-Mail Reports - Receive daily and/or weekly reports of panel arming and disarming activity.
• Arming Supervision - Receive an e-mail or text message if system is not armed or disarmed at designated time.
• Remotely Arm and Disarm the System - Control your system, from anywhere, through your Web-based Alarm.com account.
• Easy User Code Management - Assign and change user codes for regular, temporary or one-time access to property.
