About this Case Study
When fall enrollment increased dramatically at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA, administrators needed to find a way to construct a permanent, high-quality residence hall that matched the rest of the campus quickly and cost effectively.
Muhlenberg College contracted with ModSpace to develop a residence hall using faster modular construction to ensure the building could be completed in time for the new semester.
In addition, they would also be able to customize a building that would house students comfortably and efficiently. Aesthetically, the new building had to match the existing campus environment, which was no easy task considering much of the college’s architecture dates back more than 100 years.
The new modular dormitory was completed on time and to all of the schools specifications. The finished building included:
Sloped roof, dormers, and stone exterior finish
Raised basement and elevator
Double hung windows
Sixty dormitory rooms each equipped with private bathroom, individually controlled air conditioning, cable port, and computer access
Card access entry, sprinkler and fire alarm systems
